The Scouts did well on Monday, coming up with the meal plan for their service camp as well as the activities they want to do. The Scouts generated ideas in groups and then came together to agree which ideas they wanted to actually form the meal plan for the weekend. Afterwards they played some games including keys in the dark.
On Tuesday night, the Cubs started to work on their birdhouses. They measured, marked and cut two to three pieces of the design, sanding the pieces after they cut them. They'll finish the rest of the cutting and sanding next week. All the Cubs were careful using the saws and kept all their fingers!
This week, the Beavers looked at disability aids on the Active Hands website, learning about some of the tools that can help people with physical disabilities carry out everyday tasks. They also talked about different kinds of assistance animals (although their suggestion of an assistance alligator sounds more than a little dangerous) and the kind of tasks those animals can help people with. The rest of the evening was spent on some teamwork exercises, including getting themselves out of a human knot. They always seem to tangle themselves in a way that's hard to unravel!
